According to files from one of the most respectable man who have studied record fishes around Iceland Mr.Gunnar Jónsson (in the book: Icelandic fishes) is stated that the largest halibut in Iceland was cached in the North part of Iceland the summer of 1935. This giant halibut was 365 cm long, 45 cm thick and weighted 266 kg. This halibut is most likely the largest halibut in the world even though it hasn’t been filed in the Guinness World Record Book. However Mr. Jónsson also stated that he knows about giant halibut who was cached in Norway. That halibut was 470 cm long and weighted 240 kg.
