Paul Klingenberg, from Germany, took the first halibut from Suðureyri last summer (2008) and it was 32 kg and 140 cm long. This was the summer of may lost halibuts back in the sea. Few fishermen lost halibuts about 80-100 kg + and some of them managed to film it on their video camera. The main reason for those lost halibuts is because of bad rods, to thin lines and small reels. Please bring the strongest equipment to Iceland if you plan to get the giant halibut. It may be the only halibut you will get in your life.
