The fishing village Suðureyri

The small harbor in Suðureyri early morning.

The fjord on a calm spring day in early June 2008

Suðureyri is a small fishing village located in the west part of Iceland only 15 min drive from the Ísafjörður through the largest mountain tunnel in Iceland. It only takes about 40 min to fly from Reykjavík to Ísafjörður. The locals are friendly and helpful. Nature is spectacular and wild everywhere you go in the West fjords. The fishing aria is very close to this narrow fjord. From the harbor to the best fishing spots, it may take 15-30 min on our fishing boats and you can expect to catch catfish, large cod’s, haddock and giant halibut.

Last summer few Swedish fishermen’s cached 100 cm long halibut very close to the harbor in Suðureyri. Many arias in West fjords are untouched and the ocean keeps secrets that you have to experience. The global warming past years have change the nature and today you can expect to catch fishes who used to live on a very deep water like the Angler-fish (Monkfish). The adventure is waiting for you in the Wild West. Take your friend’s with you and enjoy the grate sea fishing in Iceland.
